you're looking for something to do today then you should give thanks to
all today because it's International Thank You Day! We all
a little ungrateful at times so it doesn't hurt to spend at least one
day giving thanks even for the little things. Let's get right
into celebrating International Thank You Day!
WHY IS THIS A
You shouldn't really have to ask why you should say thank
people today, or any day but Adrienne Sioux Koopersmith thought it
would be a great idea to set up days where we can give thanks for all
we have and receive. International Thank You Day got its start in 1994
and there are actually multiple thank you days; January 11th to January
18th. Some people don't realize that you're actually grateful
things that you do for them and it might actually keep them from doing
something similar for you in the future. When someone does
something for you, even something as small as letting you go first in
line, they choose to do it out of the niceness of their heart, not
because they have to. And by saying two simple words, "thank you", you
acknowledge that you appreciate their kindness. I don't know
but hearing thank you when you do something for someone else makes you
feel good. It's almost like a priceless payment for what you did and it
makes you want to continue doing good things for others.
Gratitude is contagious and you could start the spread of a
of good deeds in your city just because you said thank you to one
person. It might sound odd, but try it sometime and see if you can't
create an atmosphere of happiness wherever you go today.
So how can you celebrate today? Well, it's pretty simple...
just give thanks for all things today; let people know that you're
grateful for what they do for you. If someone let you go
when you're stopped at a stop sign, give them the "nod and a wave" that
signifies your thanks. If someone compliments you, then say
you. If someone gave you a gift, then say thank you or send
a thank you card. If someone delivers you food today, then
forget to say thank you as you tip them.
If someone gives
you a ride somewhere, then thank them even if you can't afford to pay
for a little gas. When you check out at a store, what does
cashier usually say to you? Probably something like, "thank you and
have a nice day", right? Well why not thank them for providing you the
quick service of checking you out? It doesn't hurt to tell them to have
a nice day either ;). When you stop to think about it, there
really TONS of chances for you to say thank you, each and every day.
I'm willing to bet that you haven't had a day in your life where you
didn't have the chance to say thank you for at least
So, for at least 24 hours, you should try your very best to not miss a
single opportunity to show your gratitude with these two little words.
Thank you for reading and have a great day!
