November 4th is National Candy Day
you're looking for something to do today then break out that Halloween
candy stash because it's National Candy Day! Oh yes... it's time
to start bouncing off that walls! So let's get right into
celebrating National Candy Day!
WHY IS THIS A
Well, besides the fact that almost everyone loves some type of
candy and that sugar is addicting... I mean, do you really think it's
that "easy" to take candy from a baby? NO! They're going to cry their
head off! But think about what time of year it is... Halloween was just
a few days ago! That's right; you've got a whole stash of sugary
goodness and maybe today should be the day that you binge on it a
little. I mean, Thanksgiving is right around the corner and then you
get hit with Christmas, so you don't really need to hang onto all that
candy forever! So what do you think makes candy... candy? If you
said sugar, then that's pretty much it! Why would I say such a thing?
Because the word candy comes from the Persian word Qandi which means
cane sugar. And a lot of candy is made by dissolving sugar into water
or milk and then cooking it up into some type of syrup. And the longer
you cook it the more concentrated with sugar it will be. And, if you
stay below 310 degrees, things get even harder as the heat rises. Like
a hard candy; it's solid when cooled and is pretty much 100% sugar.
there are so many different types of candy out there like toffee,
caramel, fudge, taffy, licorice.... should I keep going? OK! Candy
bars, gumdrops, lollipops, candy canes, cotton candy and tons and tons
of other types of sugary treats. You're not limited on selection but
this celebration should be limited to just today. Why? Because I
have a feeling a lot of you are going to go a bit overboard!
So, how can you celebrate today? Well, why don't you start
out with that Halloween stash? Go through and eat everything that you
think tastes awesome and pop the rest into a bowl at work or home.
Yeah, you're helping others celebrate, but they don't get the good
stuff! And before you experience a lovely sugar crash, you might want
to think about the next step of your celebration. In fact, a lot
of you might not have gotten any candy for Halloween, so this is where
your celebration will begin... Head on over to a candy store or the
candy aisle in your grocery store! You're going to be confronted with
so much sugar that you can almost smell it as you walk by shelves full
of sweet treasures. You know what you like, so start tossing it into
your shopping cart! But would you like to have a little fun with
your celebration? Then stock up on all kinds of different candy; the
good stuff, the weird stuff and the stuff you know sucks. Then get
together with a bunch of friends and you can take turns blindfolding
each other. Why? Because the blindfolded person has to try to guess
what it is that they are eating. If they guess correctly then they get
another piece or two of that exact candy, dropped into a bag for them.
If they guess incorrectly then a piece of candy must come out of their
bag. Have a great day and don't tell your mom that I said you
could have candy!
