March 7th is National Cereal Day
you're looking for something to do today then grab a bowl because it's
National Cereal Day! I don't care what kind of cereal you
your bowl with, just get to munching! Let's get right into
celebrating National Cereal Day!
WHY IS THIS A
Well, let's stop and think for a moment here... Have you
eaten cereal in your life? Most likely you have at some point and so
has everyone else. So why wouldn't you want to celebrate such a widely
consumed breakfast food? It's just that simple; eat it enough and
people will want to celebrate it! The first packaged,
ready-to-eat breakfast cereal was invented in 1863 in the United States
of America. It was called Granula and was created by James Caleb
Jackson. Jackson was a vegetarian who I guess didn't like all the meat
that people were normally eating for breakfast so he created his own
The only problem was that you had to soak the
heavy bran nuggets in his cereal overnight so that they were tender
enough to eat. Yeah, that cereal never caught on! Fast
1879 for the creation of George Hoyt's Wheatena, a toasted wheat cereal
that you can still buy today. Hop to 1895 for the start of Kellogg's
Corn Flakes and 1937 for General Mills' Kix. And today the market is so
flooded with different types of cereal that they get their own aisle in
your grocery store! Trust me, you won't run out of choices today.
It doesn't matter if you want a sweet-tasting cereal or a
cereal; they've got you covered! You can go from eating pretty much a
candy bar crumbled up in a box to a healthy, energy-packed breakfast.
The choice is all yours.
So how can you celebrate today? Well, just head to your
grocery store and start searching around for a cereal you'd like to
crunch on today. Look for your favorite kind to ensure that
enjoy the celebration. Heck, even go back to your roots and
some cereal that you haven't had since you were a kid. There
to be some reason you liked it then, right? Or maybe you can
bold and try out something new. Scan the shelves and see what
or bag catches your eye. Do you want to try something with an
interesting ingredient? Do you want to start eating
healthier? Expand your cereal horizons!
And why not have a
little fun with it and send someone blindfolded down the cereal aisle
to pick out a couple boxes for you to try out. It's highly
unlikely that you'll end up with a cereal that tastes bad but you'll
definitely end up with someone new if you select more than one!
And hey, don't forget that milk comes in more than one flavor
It's cereal day, no one's going to care if you want strawberry milk in
your cereal... you're celebrating after all! Enjoy your
and don't let your cereal get soggy!
