If you're looking for something to do today then break out that grill because it's National Cheeseburger Day!  Get those beautiful, grilled meat scents into the air!  Let's get right into celebrating National Cheeseburger Day!

Well, if you were to walk around in town at about midday I'm sure you'd smell the familiar scent of ground of cow being grilled. Yeah, people love their hamburgers! And they seem to love their cow products too because slapping a slice of cheese on a hamburger tastes like a like a combination made in cow heaven. Most meat eaters won't go through this month without eating at least one cheeseburger so it's no big mystery as to why they'd want to celebrate this sandwich!  But people didn't always put cheese on their burgers; that didn't start until around the mid-1920s to mid-1930s. But who was the first to do it? Was it 16-year-old Lionel Sternberger while working at The Rite Spot in Pasadena, California in the mid-1920s? Was it somebody at the Kaelin's Restaurant in Louisville, Kentucky in 1934? Or was it Louis Ballast who worked at the Humpty Dumpty Drive-In in Denver, Colorado in 1935? I mean, he did trademark the name cheeseburger. Well, guess what... I don't know!

And I don't really care because the cheeseburger is here now and it's here to stay. All you need is some hamburger meat, cheese, a bun and you're good to go! But I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that you don't have to use actual meat and you can use vegan cheese if you want.  Save the cows people, save the cows.

So, how can you celebrate today?  Well, where's your favorite place to get a cheeseburger? I mean, you can opt for fast food if you want or you can go to a slightly slower restaurant and get a beefier cheeseburger. Today is all about filling up that stomach in the best possible way so don't forget to get something on the side!  And if you don't feel like going out to eat then I hope you have some ground hamburger meat and cheese on hand. Fire up that grill and get to slapping some patties together. And you might as well invite some friends over for one last barbeque before it starts getting too cold out. What kind of celebration is it if you celebrate alone, right?

But it pays to be a creative celebrator so think about how you can perfect and modify the basic cheeseburger. You could use different kinds of buns and meat. You can use a variety of different toppings. But can you imagine the possibilities when it comes to cheese? There are so many different types of cheese out there! So stock up on your cheese and have people sample all kinds of combinations. You might just find your new favorite way to make a cheeseburger!  Have a great day and hey, are you going to flip those?
