May 15th is National Chocolate Chip Day
you're looking for something to do today then toss back some bite-sized
chocolate morsels because it's National Chocolate Chip Day!
them straight or bake with them! Let's get right into
National Chocolate Chip Day!
WHY IS THIS A
Do you honestly even have to ask? Unless you're allergic
chocolate, you've eaten chocolate chips all your life in a number of
different baked goods. Heck, you might even eat them straight! And
you're no different than everyone else, so since everyone is eating
them then of course there would be a holiday set aside for them!
And can you guess how they got their start? Yep, chocolate
cookies are what helped create these little chocolate chips we know and
love. Back in 1937, Ruth Graves Wakefield invented these magical
cookies when she cut up chunks of a semi-sweet Nestle bar and added it
to the recipe.
And guess what... everyone loved them! So in
1939, Nestle convinced Wakefield to add her recipe to their chocolate
bar wrapper. How did they convince her? Oh you know, a lifetime supply
of chocolate! What woman would turn that down? And at first
Nestle would provide a little chopping tool with their chocolate bars,
so that people could easily make the cookies but that didn't last long.
In 1941, Nestle and a bunch of other companies started producing
chocolate chips. And you know how Nestle's brand of cookies are called
in Whitman, Massachusetts when she created the chocolate chip cookies!
Cool, huh? Now break out the chocolate!
So, how can you celebrate? Well, if you want to be a slacker
then you can just buy a bag of chocolate chips and start munching on
them! You can get semi-sweet, dark, milk, white or even mint chocolate
chips if you like. I'm sure this will be a short-lived celebration
though because I know I can only eat so many chocolate chips straight
But you can also find some ready-made chocolate chip
cookies, so that's another easy option for a celebration. And the
bakery in your grocery store might even have some freshly-baked
chocolate chip infused treats for you to eat. If I were you, I'd head
to the bakery first to check what they have before I went and bought
some commercialized cookies. Nothing beats eating a warm
that when you pull it apart the chocolate chips are melted and are
screaming to be eaten! Or you can make some chocolate chip
at home yourself! You're not limited to just making chocolate chip
cookies; they're just a treat that never fails to satisfy. So think
about some other creative ways to use chocolate chips today. You can
put them in pancakes, bread, trail mix, granola bars and so on. And
hey, you can melt them down too... they did start out as chocolate
chips after all ;). Enjoy your day and I hope you don't crash
from your sugar high!
