April 16th is National Librarian Day
you're looking for something to do today then head to a quiet place and
read a book because it's National Librarian Day! Stop
about your librarian and ask for directions to the nearest book!
Let's get right into celebrating National Librarian Day!
WHY IS THIS A
Today is a holiday because, if you want to give your eyes
break from your computer screen and expand your mind, then you can
always head to your local library and pick up a couple FREE books to
read! But when you get there, you might have no idea where the book you
want might be and you might not have any clue as to what book you
really want to read. That's where the librarian comes in!
Librarians know where all the books are and can direct you to
right areas so that you can find your book, check it out and get to
reading as soon as possible. How do they know where the books are?
they probably have put most of the books back onto the shelves to keep
them in order! And if you don't know what you want to read then a
librarian can also give you suggestions based on the types of things
you're interested in. Librarians can also help you do research and
order new books. So this day is set aside to recognize and celebrate
the librarians that make the process of brain building so much easier
when we head to the library! And don't act like you don't
librarians; I've seen those naughty costumes!
So how can you celebrate today? Well, you could start by
heading to your local library to renew your library card. I'm sure 98%
of you haven't gotten an updated library card in YEARS! But be sure to
thank your librarian for helping you through the first task of setting
up your library card. Then you'll want to ask them for book
suggestions or just directions to the right section depending on the
type of books you're looking for. And don't forget to thank
Now here's where things can get a little fun. You could
come in with a friend of yours and have the librarian lead you to a
section of books because you need help with something. Act like you
need some kind of help with research. Then your friend can place some
kind of small gift on the librarian's desk with a little note that says
something like, "Thanks for being such an awesome librarian!" There's
no need to let them know that the gift was from you; just watch from
afar to see the look on their face when they see it. It's
things like that which can help brighten up your librarian's day. You
could even offer to help them out for the day by asking them if they
need any help sorting books or doing little tasks around the library.
If they don't seem to want help then just tell them that it's Librarian
Day and you appreciate them making your experience at the library a lot
easier even if you can't help make their day easier. I hope
enjoy your day, especially if you're a librarian!
