October 6th is National Noodle Day
you're looking for something to do today then get hungry because it's
National Noodle Day! That's right; slurp them babies up!
Let's get right into celebrating National Noodle Day!
WHY IS THIS A
I think you're a little too old to be asking questions like
that. Come on now... you do realize how many different types of noodles
there are out there, right? So it's kind of hard for someone to say
that they don't enjoy eating at least some kind of noodles. So with the
majority of the population consuming the same type of food, don't you
think that eventually someone's going to want to celebrate it in some
way? Oh yes, it has happened... I'm not sure when it started, but we'll
keep the tradition going! But the history of noodles is a bit
clouded, because we're not exactly sure where the earliest noodles came
from. With that being said, we can all pretty much agree that noodles
got their start somewhere in Asia. Us Westerners didn't start
mentioning noodles until the first century BC (thanks Horace ;)) but
now you can find them made out of SO many different things.
you can go with basic wheat noodles, which seem to pop up all the time,
but you don't have to stop there! You can make noodles out of acorns,
buckwheat, corn, kudzu root, mung beans, potatoes and even rice. But
the ingredients aren't the only form of noodle variety. You can also
get noodles in so many different shapes, sizes and colors and that
holds true no matter what the ingredients are! So which noodles
will you be going with today?
So, how can you celebrate today? Well, celebrating today can
be as easy as heading to the closest cupboard and cooking up whatever
noodles you have on hand. How does macaroni and cheese sound? What
about some chicken noodle soup or spaghetti? Do you feel like boiling
up some Ramen noodles? That's the spirit! And don't be afraid to have a
little fun and toss your noodles at the wall to see if they're done.
you can also take another easy way out and just go out to eat. There
are so many different choices when it comes to noodles that you're not
really going to have much of a limitation on what you can order. In
fact, you could probably go to just about any sit-down restaurant and
still have five different types of noodle-infused meals to choose from.
Now all you have to do is decide which restaurant you want to hit up!
But have you ever made your own noodles? There are a lot of
recipes out there you can use and, as you can see above, you can go
with a lot of different ingredients. It's a pretty interesting
experience that will cause you to end up with the exact type of noodles
you'd like to consume today. In fact, I may or may not have made my own
noodles in the video below. ;) Have a great day and enjoy filling
