March 8th is National Peanut Cluster Day
you're looking for something to do today then gather up some nuts
because it's National Peanut Cluster Day! Yes, yet another
celebration for the well-loved flavor of peanuts. Let's get
into celebrating National Peanut Cluster Day!
WHY IS THIS A
So why does this sweet cluster of nutty goodness get its
holiday? Well, I'd have to say it's because so many people love
crunching on peanut clusters. You should know by now that most food
holidays don't have much more of a reason for their celebration other
than that. But what is a peanut cluster? Well it's exactly
it sounds like... a cluster of peanuts! They're usually held together
in cluster form by a nice coating of milk chocolate. Yep, that's it!
Just heat up some chocolate until it's all melted, toss in some
de-shelled peanuts, stir and bam you're on your way to peanut clusters!
them on a cookie sheet covered in wax paper and all you have to do then
is pop them in the fridge or freezer and wait until the chocolate
becomes a bit more solid. Chocolate isn't the only thing used
peanut clusters and sometimes people add other sweet treats into the
cluster but that's pretty much the basic idea. Now can you honestly say
you don't enjoy peanut clusters? I mean, unless of course you have food
So how can you celebrate today? Well, how about you head on
down to your local candy store or the candy aisle in a grocery store
and start browsing the shelves for some peanut clusters. You can go the
basic route if you like and get chocolate covered peanut clusters or
you can step outside of the norm. See how many different varieties of
peanut clusters you can find and who knows, you might end up liking the
new version of the candy. Or you can swing by the cooking
and stock up on supplies to make this yourself. But remember, you're
not just limited to milk chocolate! Why not try out dark chocolate,
white chocolate, butterscotch, caramel, peanut butter or whatever else
you can find in chip form to melt down!
And don't be afraid to
add something extra inside with the peanuts. Think of chewy things you
can melt down to mix in with the peanuts before you enclose them in
their candy coating. Maybe some soft toffee, caramel or even
marshmallow. Get creative with your peanut clusters. But don't forget
to get a container of peanuts! And hey, no one said it had to
just peanuts in the cluster. You can add in a combination of nuts if
you like! Try them out with almonds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts or any
other nut you think would compliment the peanut flavor! By
end of your kitchen fiasco you'll have bowls full of peanut clusters
that you can munch on all day. Or, if your nice, that you'll
share with your friends, family and coworkers! Regardless of
you decide to do to celebrate, I hope that you enjoy your sugar high
and crunch on some peanuts today!
