August 1st is National Raspberry Cream Pie Day
you're looking for something to do today then get ready for a slice of
heaven to meet your tongue because it's National Raspberry Cream Pie
Day! And you thought your day couldn't get any better, huh?
Let's get right into celebrating National Raspberry Cream Pie Day!
WHY IS THIS A
If you've honestly never had raspberry cream pie before, then I
can understand why you'd ask that question. A cream pie doesn't exactly
sound all that appealing so how can raspberries make it that much
better, right? Well, my perspective changed once I made one and tried
it out... this pie is amazing! And I know I'm not the only one that
thinks that because there's really only one main reason to have a food
holiday like today... because a lot of people like eating raspberry
cream pie! A cream pie can be made in a variety of different ways
but it's usually a custard or pudding inside of a thin crust. If you go
that route, you'll want to make it out of things like milk, flour, eggs
and cream. But you can also make a cream pie with things like heavy
whipping cream and cream cheese. Then the crust can be anything from
graham crackers to vanilla wafers. And a lot of cream pies will then be
topped with whipped cream, but you might want to skip that for today.
You see, there are a couple ways you can make your cream pie into
a raspberry cream pie. You could whip your raspberries right into your
cream, so that the cream itself is raspberry flavored. You could even
step that up a notch and stir in whole raspberries so you have a little
something extra to bite into. But the reason you might want to skip the
whipped topping is because you can make a nice, raspberry sauce to pour
over top of your cream pie to really seal the deal. And you can even
get a bit artsy and put some fresh raspberries on top as a garnish.
Choose your own adventure!
how can you celebrate today? Well, you can go on a hunt to find a
place that makes their own raspberry cream pie for starters. Call up
local restaurants or stop in and ask to see their dessert menu. I can't
think of any restaurants near me that serve it off the top of my head
but then again I never looked for it on the menus. You can also check
local bakeries and hopefully you'll end up with your sweet and creamy
bounty! I'm sure you'll find a few places that make it; raspberries are
in season after all. Or you could just make one yourself! It's
not that hard, you just have to wait a little bit for your cream to
firm up so you can scoop it out like a normal pie. So go pick up a
ready made crust, or get some graham crackers or vanilla wafers to
crumble up and press into your pie plate as the crust. Then decide on
how you want to make your cream... do you want it to be like a pudding
or more like a creamy cheesecake? And then of course you want to get
your raspberries; fresh is always the best option but frozen works too.
But since it's a holiday why don't you experiment a little to see
which way is the best way to make a raspberry pie? There are so many
variations you could make today so make sure you get enough cream
ingredients, pie crusts and raspberries to go around! You could make a
raspberry flavored cream, a raspberry flavored cream with whole
raspberries inside it, a raspberry flavored cream with whole
raspberries inside it and a raspberry sauce on top, a raspberry
flavored cream without whole raspberries inside it and a raspberry
sauce on top and on and on! There are so many ways to go about it. You
could even invite a few people over and compete to see who makes the
best. Have a great day and enjoy your heavenly pie!
