If you're looking for something to do then get ready for some sweetness because it's National Vanilla Cupcake Day!  All that goodness fits in the palm of your hand!  Let's get right into celebrating National Vanilla Cupcake Day!

Well, we already know that cupcakes are freaking popular and usually you have two choices, when it comes to cupcakes: chocolate or vanilla. Vanilla cupcakes have a lightness in flavor and in color, but they never seem to disappoint. And even though there are many people who love chocolate cupcakes, there might just be an equal amount of people who always opt for the vanilla cupcake instead. I am one of those people and I stand behind this celebration and push it toward you... will you celebrate with me?  And if for some reason you're confused about what a cupcake is, then let me clear things up for you. It's a handheld cake that you bake in little cups; it might not be the exact measurement of a cup, but we'll go with it anyway. It's the sweeter version of a muffin that you usually top with some kind of frosting. Now, a vanilla cupcake will consist of a normal cake batter with probably some vanilla extract added in, so that it's true to its name.

And if you really want to keep things true to its name, then you might even opt for a vanilla frosting. But honestly, only the cupcake has to consist of a vanilla cake batter; you're free to do as you please with the frosting. I mean, you could even get something like a Funfetti mix and you'd still have vanilla cupcakes. And then you can go crazy with your frosting and slap whatever kind of sweetness you want to on top!  Have fun with your miniature cakes!

So, how can you celebrate today?  Well, the easiest option might be to just head to your local bakery. Some bakeries specialize in cupcakes, but almost all bakeries will bake up vanilla cupcakes every single day. They may even have a few different kinds of vanilla cupcakes for you to choose from. It's a simple way to celebrate, and all you have to do is make it to the store!  But, if you'd rather make your own then you're probably going to want to head to the store anyway. You can pick up a cupcake mix or you can plan ahead, find a good recipe and then just stock up on the ingredients you need. But don't be afraid to test out a few different kinds of frosting. And, of course, you have the same decision to make there too: do you make your own frosting or buy the ready-made kind?

But hey... it's a celebration, so you might as well get creative! What do you think would happen if you used vanilla ice cream in your cupcake batter instead of milk? You could even use vanilla almond milk! Or you could use those round vanilla wafers as a base for your cupcakes; that'd give it a nice crunch. You could even make a thick batter, sprinkle blueberries on top of each cupcake, bake them and then give them a thin vanilla glaze so the beautiful berries still show through the glaze a little.  Have a great day and enjoy your vanilla creations!
